The seventh year of the Maker Faire Prague festival will attract the biggest celebrities from the maker community and will show the audience original projects created by students and semi-professionals, the Czech five-member high school team LASAR, which recently won the NASA international competition, will also be present. Visitors can look forward to some of the world’s largest YouTube macros, as well as creations from the course “How to make (almost) anything” at the CTU FEL or the Robosoutěže superfinal. The two-day Maker Faire Prague festival will take place from May 11 to 12 in the Křižík pavilions at the Prague Exhibition Center.

The seventh year of the festival will offer a varied program full of the latest technologies, activities and workshops for geeks and the general public under the roof of the co-organizer, which is Výstaviště Prague.

Meet and Greet with the world’s macro YouTubers on Saturday at Prusa Research

On Saturday, fans of macro YouTubers will be able to meet famous names at the stand of the general partner of the festival, Prusa Research. During Saturday afternoon between 15:00 and 16:00 they can say hello to Integzowhich has millions of followers in the online world and deals with experiments with jet engines, Ivan Mirandaknown for the clock he created out of thousands of chirping balls, and the creator of the channel Proper Printingwhich builds various experimental 3D printers. I remember when my brother and I started going around Maker Faire around the world showing off our 3D printer prototypes. It’s totally energizing when you can show your project to the world, listen to feedback, make new contacts and get inspiration from other makers. I am very happy that we have such an event for the seventh time here in the Czech Republic! And at a great level, which is also confirmed by the participation of some of the most famous macros from abroad comments Josef Průša with a smile.

How to make anything

The students of FEL ČVUT will have everything they created in the course ready at the stand How to make (almost) anything, inspired by the How to make (almost) anything course from the famous MIT. It teaches the basics of rapid prototyping, digital manufacturing, laser cutting, 3D scanning and printing, electronic circuits, microcontroller programming and many other things.

He also knows that 3D printing is a revolutionary key to the production of almost anything Filip Ružička. At the festival, he will show how he managed to combine his two favorite fields – 3D printing and electrical engineering. At his stand, visitors can see, for example, a classic eight-cylinder engine, turbines reaching up to 9,000 revolutions per minute or a Tesla transformer.

Laser arm from the NASA competition for the first time in Prague

Czech student team LASAR received international recognition in the Conrad competition in April 2024 Challenge hosted by NASA’s Space Center Houston, where he won two of the three majors prices. Now the Czech public can try out their space project for the first time. “On the stand we will be exhibiting our working model of the laser arm that we want to use reset non-communicating satellites in Earth orbit. It will be programmed not only for simulation of satellite tracking, but also for those interested who want to try it with the arm move with the joystick says team leader Simon Klinga.

Makers also think about sustainability

Do you have old CDs at home and don’t know what to do with them? Then you must not miss CD-ROM 3D printer, inspired by Indian instructions for making a printer from “CDs” and then brought to perfection with the help of CNC and laser. In addition, the entire project is designed in such a way that anyone can build it.

Project RRRRR operating on the principle of a recycling center, the organization Precious Plastic will present the process of manufacturing products from recycled plastic to visitors, which they will also be able to create themselves.

STMicroelectronics will present semiconductor technologies for a smarter and greener future. Curious questions and projects will be appreciated by visitors Espressif Systems, who make popular microcontrollers for controlling a wide range of projects with wireless WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Music and sports belong to geeks

The Czech platform shows that even a musician can be a maker Noise Kitchen, which is based on the electronic music scene, will convince visitors of the magic of working with sound. Anyone who wants can try playing on hardware modular synthesizers themselves.

Jiří Ryba again, he combined his interest in DIY with sports, and you can see a demonstration at his stand water skiing and a walking stick, thanks to which the favorite sport is not just winter fun, and walking on water does not have to be just a dream.

“When I started working in the field of trade fairs in my youth, the events I saw abroad with top-quality production were more like a dream than a reality in the Czech Republic. Today it is different and I am very proud that one of the TOP events is the Maker Faire at the Exhibition Center, which is also its co-organizer. The level of the entire festival is really very high and it is so full of content and innovation that I will be happy if I manage to go through everything that my family and I have planned.” comments Tomáš Hübl, chairman of the board of Výstaviště Praha, as

DIY is not limited by age

This can be achieved by fantastic teams of students from the 2nd grade of elementary schools and the corresponding classes of multi-year gymnasiums, which is participating FEL CTU Robocompetition and whose task is to build a robot from the LEGO® MIN kitDSTORMS®. WITHthe superfinal of the spring part of this tournament will be held at the festival on Sunday.

A bold project of a primary school student Kryštof Slouka in turn, it consists in the creation of power banks that are completely recycled from disposable electronic cigarettes. The battery and packaging are used from those, then reductions are created by 3D printing, with which the modules are fitted.

The Maker Faire Prague festival is organized by the Make More organization, the co-organizer is Výstaviště Prague and the general partner is PRUSA Research. The partners of this year’s Maker Faire Prague are Maker Market, STMicroelectronics, Škoda Auto, Laska Kit, Bosch Czech Republic, Xiaomi, Espressif, CTU, Hennlich, City of Prague, Prague City Tourism, Prague 7, Association for Road Construction, NCS 4.0., Association of Entrepreneurs in construction, Visegrad Fund and Technology of the Capital City of Prague.
