The Prague Goethe-Institut will offer a live broadcast from the Berlin Philharmonic for the first time: on May 18 from 19:00 it will be possible to listen to Bruckner in the institute’s hall Third symphony, in its original form from 1873. François-Xavier Roth will be behind the desk of the Berlin Philharmonic. Free entry.

“We want to give the Prague audience the opportunity to participate in live concerts of the Berlin Philharmonic, one of the best orchestras in the world, and that’s why we decided on the first concert, with which we want to test both the audience’s interest and gain experience with live broadcasts,” comments Klára Arpa from Program Department of the Goethe-Institut.

Live streaming Third Symphony Anton Bruckner, which the institute will perform on May 18 from 7:00 p.m. as an accompanying program to the Prague Open House festival, promises an extraordinary musical experience. The French conductor François-Xavier Roth will perform it in its original form from 1873, i.e. in the form that the composer himself rejected. Conductor Roth, winner of the Claudio Abad Award, however, considers this first of the three versions to be the best, as it shows Bruckner in his most authentic form.

From 18:15 to 18:45, a prelude to the concert will take place in the foyer of the Goethe-Institut under the direction of music columnist Jiří Slabihoudek.

“The audience can look forward not only to a great program, but also to quality sound and first-class technical transmission, for which we owe the Digital Concert Hall, i.e. the digital platform of the Berlin Philharmonic,” adds Arpa.

The hall of the Goethe-Institut offers 80 seats. Organizers ask for early arrival to the performance.
