Windy Jeníkov (Jihlavsko) – Further agricultural protests will take place on Wednesday, May 22 in Prague. This was decided today by representatives of the Agrarian Chamber, the Agricultural Union and other non-governmental agricultural organizations in Větrné Jeníkov in Jihlavsk. According to the president of the Agrarian Chamber, Jan Doležal, these should be massive protests, they may not be the last. According to him, the government is not solving the difficult situation in the sector and is rather making it worse with some steps.

“Therefore, there is nothing left for us to do at the moment but to draw the public’s attention to the fact that we really have big problems and that these problems need to be solved,” said Doležal. The farmers did not invite Minister of Agriculture Marek Výborný (KDU-ČSL) to today’s meeting. ČTK is investigating the minister’s statement.

“We are ready to express our dissatisfaction and continue the protests,” the chairman of the Agricultural Union, Martin Pýcha, also confirmed to journalists. According to him, the aim is to convince the government to deal with the situation very seriously.

The Czech Republic, like other European countries, is repeatedly experiencing farmers’ protests this year. In the Czech Republic, they were last held on March 20, when more than 1,600 agricultural machines took to the roads in the regions and across the borders. Farmers demonstrated in Prague on March 7, according to the spokesperson of the Agrarian Chamber, 3,000 to 4,000 farmers and 1,000 agricultural machines took part in this event. In protest against EU policies, tractors took to the roads on February 22, slowing traffic in cities, on main roads and at border crossings.
