Anyone can walk the red carpet. Just go through the Teresa Gate

--

Have you always wanted to experience what it’s like to be a movie star? Everyone can do that on Thursday, because the red carpet appeared in Olomouc. Anyone can walk on it. Or rather, they have to – the organizers of the happening rolled out the carpet in the area of Terezská brány, so you can’t avoid it.

The red carpet draws attention to the new play Tragedies. It premieres already on Friday at the Cucky Theatre. “We wanted to arrange a collaboration with Divadl na cucky, and since they are premiering now, we thought we would roll out the red carpet here. After all, it is precisely about the fact that you are not a tragedy, no one is a tragedy.” explains Vítek Neznal from Circus La Putyka for the Olomouc Report.

The carpet belongs to the Culture you can’t stop initiative, which is known to the public mainly from the period of the pandemic, when artists took to the streets with performances because the theaters had to close.

“We are close to the idea of the Culture You Can’t Stop event, and in addition, we have just before the premiere of the Tragedy play. The title of the play called for rolling out the red carpet with the words ‘You’re No Tragedy,'” Kristýna Dosoudilová, producer of Divadla na cucky, tells Olomoucky Report.

Olomouc residents can enjoy the red carpet only on Thursday, then it disappears. “Every moment can turn into a unique event, every moment deserves attention, everyone can feel like a movie star,” describes He didn’t know why the red carpet and adds: “We were looking for a suitable location in Olomouc, and Terezská brána appealed to me. The carpet is supposed to lead to something, and thanks to the fact that I enter the gate with something and thanks to that context, I can go through the gate with a new emotion, a new feeling. I really like the transformation effect of the gate.”

At the same time, the organizers describe how they like to watch the reactions of passers-by. It is no different in Olomouc. “It works best if the carpet can’t be avoided. It is then interesting to observe the reactions of people who walk on it,” says He didn’t know.

Visitors could already see the carpet in Prague’s Stromovka, in a meadow in the south of Bohemia, or at the entrance to the Prague metro. “People coming out of the subway could read the inscription ‘rising star’ on the carpet again. We play with the carpet differently,” concludes for the Report Vítek Neznal for the initiative Kultura nezastest.
