He was a dad you couldn’t help but love… While the majority of the public will remember Josef Laufer (†84) primarily for his songs or film roles, his daughter Ester will remember more how he took her to school, how he passed on to her the ability to love life and see everything is positive. The family album released a secret
Singer Josef Laufer, who had been in a vegetative state in hospital for the past four years, died on Saturday evening. His only daughter Ester is devastated, yet she allowed eXtra.cz to interview her.
And she provided us with touching photos: for example, her dad hugging her as a child on the way to school, or another from her adulthood.
They said they had a great relationship, she received a lot of love from both parents (her mother was the costume designer Irena Greifová) and most importantly, they did not limit her in anything.
“Anything that made even a little bit of sense, he always supported me completely. He listened to what I had to say about it, he was interested in what I was doing, he talked to me about it. And what I am especially grateful for is that he gave me a positive outlook on life. He loved him like no one else I know. He was interested in everything until the last moment. He saw it in the way that when life was given to him, he should also live it properly and fully. The pure positive attitude he instilled in me, or the way he liked people, that was and is important to me, we got along a lot. And I miss it a lot.” Ester Lauferová confided in an interview for eXtra.cz.
Parental love
Daddy called her affectionately.
“He probably used Esterko the most. Or ‘my niña’ (Spanish for little girl – editor’s note). But we said different things. We liked to play with languages and words,” she added for our website.
The funeral for family and friends will take place in the next few days, but the public also has the opportunity to say goodbye to Josef Laufer: his home Broadway Theater created a place of remembrance, where even a moved Ester brought a flower.
