The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics card is one of NVIDIA’s latest and most powerful offerings for gaming and graphics applications. The new RTX 4000 with the nickname SUPER brings minor improvements and evolution within this series.

We’ll be looking primarily at the GIGABYTE card, with a more detailed review coming later with a bunch of other NVIDIA and GIGABYTE cards.

However, the RTX 4070 Ti Super offers more VRAM and some extra performance.

Design and construction

The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super GAMING OC graphics card comes with an attractive design and robust construction that combine both aesthetics and functionality. As is the tradition for GIGABYTE GAMING OC cards, it has a total of three fans, which of course spin when the graphics core heats up. At low load or at rest, the card cools completely passively.

Of course, the card is also equipped with several RGB LED strips, which is more or less standard in this segment, previously at GIGABYTE it was the domain of the higher AORUS series, but it also came to the GAMING OC series. Of course, we can configure these LEDs, we like the mode where the color changes according to the temperature of the graphics core, then changes from green to yellow and exceptionally red, depending on how it is set.

Similar to other cards, this model also has a cutout in the back plate so that warm air can flow through the card upwards and the heat is dissipated more efficiently than just to the sides.

The construction is traditional three-slot, so the card fits into most common computers, owners of miniITX systems have to watch the dimensions, because very small cases typically do not support large graphics cards.

Performance

Compared to previous models of the RTX 4000 series and competing cards from AMD, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super provides a balanced ratio of performance (in terms of energy efficiency the RTX 4070 Super is slightly better), efficiency and price, which makes it an attractive choice for a wide range of users . This card delivers excellent performance and is capable of handling the latest gaming titles as well as demanding graphics tasks with ease and consistent performance.

DLSS 3.7.0

Many readers must have heard about DLSS technology, this technology has been with us on the market for some time now and NVIDIA is constantly improving and developing DLSS. The current latest version of DLSS 3.7.0 is thus significantly different from the original version of DLSS 1.0/2 and 3.

For a quick overview, a picture is worth a thousand words.

One of the main novelties of DLSS 3 was the Frame Generation function, which almost sounds like magic, since new frames are effectively generated and they provide a significant increase in FPS. This is very useful for weaker graphics cards, or even for more powerful ones, especially in the case of higher resolutions, for example in UHD/4K.

Another advantage is the possibility to combine DLSS with Frame Generation and NVIDIA Reflex technology, Ray Tracing can also be added to the party, where DLSS will help us ensure a playable frame rate with a good gaming experience.

One of the potential problems of sampling with the help of DLSS technologies can be certain artifacts, ghosting and so on. But this is typically not easy to see and sometimes you have to look for it in static scenes or screenshots. Of course, it also depends on the used resolution and quality setting.

DLSS 3.7.0 brings improvements compared to 3.5.0 and older versions precisely in the field of image quality and various details. You can see a smaller comparison in the video below.

However, here it may be necessary to wait until the developers add the new version of DLSS to their games. If you don’t want to wait, it is possible to manually replace the DLL library that solves DLSS, for most titles there shouldn’t be any problems.

Of course we need to have current drivers installed and a reasonably new operating system, NVIDIA recommends at least Windows 10, build 20H1. We would recommend using the most up-to-date build, i.e. 22H2, or Windows 11. As for drivers, you will be sure of at least the version 522.25 or newer.

By combining DLSS and Frame Generation, we can achieve a higher frame rate, even with ray tracing turned on. According to NVIDIA, a high performance increase can be expected, we will look at the exact numbers in a separate review.
