According to the BBC, Adrian Newey is leaving Red Bull. The team has not yet confirmed this information.

There has been speculation about the future of Adrian Newey for a long time. The situation has developed since Christian Horner was accused of inappropriate behavior towards a female employee and overall relations within the team have deteriorated.

His desire to leave Red Bull was first reported by Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport, but the information was independently verified by BBC Sport, citing sources close to Newey and Red Bull.

Newey has been with Red Bull since 2005. He has helped the team to six titles among teams and seven among drivers. He only works part-time for the team now, so his departure would hurt Red Bull, but it wouldn’t have fatal consequences. In addition to the racing team, Newey is involved in the development of the RB17 hypercar.

It is not yet clear when or where Newey might be headed. Undoubtedly, more teams will be interested in him. For a long time there has been speculation about Aston Martin, where he would work with Fernando Alonso. He recently, perhaps somewhat surprisingly, extended his contract with the team. A transfer to Ferrari cannot be ruled out either. In addition to working for the legendary brand, Newey could also work with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
