The Czech hockey players defeated Slovakia 4:2 in Trenčín and won the fifth match in preparation for the World Championship in Prague in May.

Coach Radim Rulík’s men decided with three goals in the opening period, which were scored by Jakub Vrána, Jakub Flek and Matěj Stránský.

The Slovakians reduced the score in the second half thanks to Andrej Kudrna’s power play, but in the end Libor Zábranský increased the power play into an empty net. Samuel Takáč had the last word.

On Saturday from 14:00, the Czechs will face Slovakia again in Bratislava.

Rulík’s selection followed up on wins of 3:0 and 4:2 over Germany and 5:1 and 3:2 over Austria. The Czech hockey players succeeded for the sixth time in a row with a 5:3 victory at the February Swedish Games in Karlstad nad Švýcarsk.

Defender David Špaček and forward Ondřej Kaše made their national team debuts today.

Michal Kovařčík had a chance right at the start, but he couldn’t beat Hlavaje. The home team defended themselves when Okuliar was sent off, and Pyrocht’s foul shortened the power play by five seconds. The weakened Czechs also resisted. Klimes was helped by the right post after Cehlárik’s shot from behind the right circle. During Cingel’s stay on the penalty bench, Rulík’s selection at 12:13 opened the scoring. Ticháček sent Vránu from his own defensive zone into the counter, who hit from a position between the circles. He thus celebrated his return to the national team for the first time since last year’s bronze World Championship in Tampere and Helsinki.

In the 18th minute, debutant David Špaček went to support the offensive, he offered the puck ideally to Fleka, and the Czechs rejoiced again.

In just 35 seconds, Hlavaj scored for the third time. Matěj Stránský freed himself with a skillful turn over Brincko, Hlavaj hit his first attempt, but after Beránek’s stop, the Czech striker finally tapped the puck into the open goal.

At the beginning of the second half, Ondřej Kaše threatened in a weakened state during Vrán’s penalty at the end of the opening third.

With Sustra’s penalty in the 23rd minute, the home team had already seen a reduction. Sukeľ charged Kudrno from behind the goal and Klimeš capitulated for the first time. Another numerical advantage was offered to Slovakia by Stránský throwing the puck into the audience, but the Czechs defended themselves this time.

In the 27th minute, Kudrna from Litvín was close to the next goal, hitting the opposite post from the left circle. Rulík’s team did not allow the opponent to get in touch even with Chlapík’s penalty.

Then Hlavaje threatened Kempný and Vrána, and the Czech team did not increase their lead even with a power play during Bačik’s expulsion. Before the end of the second half, the home goalkeeper still had to intervene after Chlapík’s shot. Grman threatened Klimeš after working with Bačik.

At the beginning of the final part, he did not beat Klimeš with a backhand attempt by Tamáš. The Slovaks pushed in vain for an equaliser.

Fašek-Rudáš’s penalty for a throw-in foul deprived them of a power play when Beránek was sent off. In the 55th minute, Klimeš Kašlík pushed in front of him, but he failed to score.

During Slovakia’s power play at 56:54, Zábranský headed into the empty net and scored his first goal in the 24th match of the national team. Takač corrected the result a minute and a half before the end.
