Mercedes boss Toto Wolff trusts Hamilton that, despite the unfavorable results, he will act in a professional manner until the end in the last season together.

It’s been up and down for Mercedes since the new rules were introduced two years ago. The 2024 season is still in the same vein.

After the first two grand prix this year, it seemed that better times were dawning for Mercedes. Hamilton described his W15 as an “amazing car.” However, after practice at the Australian GP, ​​he admitted that he felt “the least confident” he had ever been in the car. On the other hand, he had his “best feeling” of the year on Friday in Japan and achieved second place in the Chinese sprint, but in qualifying a day later he was already eliminated in Q1.

Moreover, despite all the flashes of speed, not a single Sunday race has finished in the top six this year.

However, Mercedes boss Toto Wolf is convinced that he will not leave Hamilton until the end of the season. Not least in his working relationship with colleague George Russell.

“I think Lewis is a professional, he acts like that all the time, he tries to maintain his morale and the morale of the teams, even when the results are not coming,” said the Austrian.

“I have no doubt that it will continue like this in the future. Like his support of George Russell.’

Hamilton himself said on Thursday ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix that he wanted to focus on his current season with Mercedes rather than his upcoming move to Ferrari.

“Right now I want to get back on top. So all my energy goes in that direction. Of course, I have an exciting future ahead of me. But right now I’m going through a tough present. And that is my challenge.”
