All elements of the IZS have been involved since Monday morning in a tragic accident on the road between Jankovice and Hlinsk pod Hostýn in the Kroměříž region. The driver of the passenger car died in a collision between a truck and a passenger car. According to the police, the road will be completely closed until at least late afternoon.

The accident happened around nine o’clock in the morning. According to the police, the driver of the truck drove in the opposite direction for reasons not yet determined, where he collided with a car. Both cars subsequently went down the hill through the barriers and ended up in a field.
“Four fire units went to the scene. The firefighters freed the injured driver (passenger car) using a hydraulic rescue device. However, he suffered life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to them on the spot,” said regional fire department spokeswoman Lucie Javoříková.
The other driver was taken to the hospital. “The driver of the truck was treated and secured by paramedics as part of pre-hospital emergency care, and the crew transported him to the Kroměříž hospital with moderate injuries,” informed the regional spokeswoman for the paramedics, Gabriela Netopilová Sluštíková.
The accident is still under investigation this afternoon. “As soon as the situation allows, the firefighters will help to pull the truck and car back onto the road, which will not be easy given the location of the event,” added Javoříková.
