Londýnský bar The Black Dog v posledních dnech čelí enormnímu a nečekanému náporu hostů. Původně malá hospůdka se doslova přes noc stala místem, kde se na rezervaci čeká i měsíce. Za neobvyklým podnikatelským úspěchem není zisk Michelinské hvězdy ani sofistikovaná reklamní kampaň. Za popularitu podniku může americká zpěvačka Taylor Swift.

Majitelé podniku nemuseli pro zvýšení návštěvnosti udělat prakticky nic. Lidi táhne do baru jedna z nových písní americké zpěvačky Taylor Swift. Konkrétní píseň z jejího nového alba The Tortured Poets Department, česky Oddělení utrápených básníků.

Zpěvačka zpívá o tom, že někdo, s kým si donedávna byla blízká, si zapomněl vypnout aplikaci pro sdílení polohy a šel do baru The Black Dog. Což je tedy jméno písničky, ale zároveň právě i onoho londýnského podniku. Fanoušci si to vyložili po svém a bar na jihozápadě britské metropole vzali útokem, píše The Standard.

Rather than the song, fans visit the bar for the American singer herself. Taylor Swift is currently the most sought-after pop star in the world – Time magazine even named her the person of the year last year – and she really has a huge influence on her listeners. So the cause should be sought rather in this.

In addition, the singer has never publicly admitted that The Black Dog is really an allusion to a London bar. In slang English, the phrase black dog also serves as a metaphor for depression. So how Swift meant it remains a bit of a mystery.

Surprised owners

The owners of the bar later admitted in an interview with The Guardian newspaper that the singer may have visited the establishment, but they themselves were not sure.

Above all, the bar owners should have been surprised by the increased attendance. At the very beginning of the “crowd enthusiasm”, photos and videos from the company flooded social networks. Neither the owners nor the employees said they had any idea why this was happening. And the connection with the newly released record of the American singer did not occur to them at first.

Due to the sudden rush of guests, they even had to hire security to help them with the crowds of so-called “Swifties”, as the fans call themselves.

However, the management of the company recovered very quickly and naturally decided to make the most of the situation. For example, Swift burgers or cocktails inspired by the pop star appeared on the menu. In addition, the staff are said to shoot a free half-pint of beer to anyone who sings a bit of any Taylor Swift song.
