This Czech radio and television presenter started at Karlovy Vary radio as a young ear. Then he came to make a career in Prague, where Veronika Žilková gave him something to do. But gradually, thanks to her hard school, he worked his way up. Today, he hosts both on television and radio. Do you know who it is?

Acting doesn’t run in the family, but eloquence and showing off does. My mother trained as a saleswoman, my father as a machinist, his brother is a professor of chemistry and associate professor at VŠCHT in Prague. A single whiff of artistic flair could perhaps be found a generation back, when grandma and grandpa played amateur theater. But that was common in the village at that time.

“Mum is very talkative and Dad always liked to show off. When I find myself in his company, I am just a silent companion next to him. He is a type of folk storyteller, like Vladimír Menšík was. He also has a need to entertain people,” he contemplates in the interview for novinky.cz the moderator over where in it the need to talk to people and entertain them took them.

Although he had great potential to become something other than an actor or a presenter, because he was a prize winner at school, he was drawn to radio. He managed to get there even at the age of fifteen. In Karlovy Vary, which was the region where he grew up, Radio Diana started broadcasting at that time. And instead of going to school, he started his radio career. He then caught up with school on the weekends, also thanks to his brother, who came home on weekends and simply “poured” the teaching into his head.

Veronika Žilková took it to the show

He was at the Karlovy Vary radio for a year and then moved to the big city of Prague. Here our presenter walked like a great gentleman, after all, who could be proud of being a presenter on the radio at the age of fifteen? However, he was soon beaten by a well-known Czech actress Veronika Žilkova.

“In Vary, I was the one-eyed king among the blind, and in Prague I discovered that all my classmates had already filmed something, had some experience. Veronika knocked the comb off my head very profusely right from the start. In my first acting class, she told me I looked like a colonnade belt,” he recalls the days of his early studies, when he thought he had nothing more to learn in Prague.

Žilková was said to be very harsh and uncompromising as a teacher, she even made some students cry. But she was valuable to our flower from Vary, mainly because she grounded him very quickly and taught him humility. “I came from Vary, nose up, because I won the poll for the most popular presenter of our station there,” supplies.

But thanks to this tough school, he quickly got a hold of himself on the Czech television scene. In 1997, there was an audition for moderators to Breakfast with Nova and he with Hana Šimková they won in the competition of 3800 ladies and 700 men. They lasted on Nova TV until the new boss brought his people, they were siblings Gondík.

But he really didn’t need a job for a long time. “On Friday I was still on Nova and on Monday already on Dobrý rán on CT. Years later, I found out that Veronika Žilková called the then head of the show and literally threatened him that he would have a problem with her if he didn’t take me.” she remembers how harsh and uncompromising Žilková was with her students, however, if she saw talent and potential in someone, she did not hesitate to stand up for him.

Problems due to Yvonne Carrier

But not all days were rosy. In 2006, he did not watch the live broadcast of the show Guest to the house on Czech Radio Yvonne Přenosilováwhich stated that Jiří Paroubek he gestures like an Italian dictator Mussolini. Then he had to leave the show and could only moderate the funny ones. However, it brought him a friendship with his favorite singer. “That day Mrs. Přenosilová and I got drunk, it brought us very close and we see each other often. We even celebrate Paroubek’s anniversary every year,” he remembered when Yvonne Přenosilová was still alive.

Today he hosts a successful radio show Toboggan, which is an entertaining talk show broadcast live on Czech Radio Dvojce. In January 2015, with his 1000th episode, the presenter even managed to sell out the entire Lucerna.

He entered into a registered partnership

In 2008, he also entered into a registered partnership with an actor and voice actor Michal Jagelka. “Just two years ago, we would have considered a Saturday night not spent in a downtown bar a waste. Last year, however, we bought a magical two-hundred-year-old wooden house and fell in love with it. As we grow older, we realize that work is not everything, so we disappear into nature as much as possible. Only there will you understand how many petty and useless things you deal with in life.” said a popular Czech radio and TV presenter in 2011 Ales Cibulka.

Would you recognize him from the photo? He was really cute as a little boy.
