Christina Boyer was possessed and is serving a life sentence for the death of her three-year-old daughter, which she says she did not cause

Christina had a violent childhood

Christina Resch was born in the state of Ohio, USA, on October 23, 1969. Her drug-addicted mother, Barbara Jean David, was a follower of modern witchcraft called wicca. According to the later testimony of Christina’s biological sister, Michelle Parker, she was supposed to have supernatural abilities and the ability of telekinesis. For example, she was able to knock paintings off the wall or turn on the television using only her mind. When Christina was only 2 years old, her mother abandoned her and left her in one of the hospitals. Little Christina was adopted by a foster family, Joan and John Resh, who continuously had over 250 children in their care. But although it might seem that they had good hearts and only wanted to provide shelter for abandoned children, the reality was quite different. They didn’t care much about the entrusted children and even abused them. Christina later testified that she was often brutally beaten by her adoptive parents for no reason. Her stepfather is said to have often beaten her with his fists. In a family that lacked any harmony, there were also sexual assaults, when Christina was molested by her stepbrother when she was 12 years old. When Christina confided in her stepmother, she received only more beatings and distrust.

Was she craving attention or possessed by a real poltergeist?

In 1984, when Christina was 14 years old, strange things allegedly started happening at her parents’ house. Various things would fly through the air by themselves whenever the girl got upset in her presence, so her parents did not hesitate to call a priest to the house to perform an exorcism on the girl. In addition, however, they also informed local reporters, who became very interested in the mysterious event. Later, the priest was replaced by parapsychologist Bill Roll, who dealt with supernatural phenomena. He even moved into the house where Christina lived so that he could monitor her abilities all the time. He placed video cameras and recorders throughout the house. However, once she was caught on camera arranging her supposed abilities, so the media called the whole case a hoax. However, Bill Roll did not stop being interested in the girl, as he was convinced that it was only an isolated incident and that the girl really has supernatural abilities. Together with his partner, psychiatrist and hypnotherapist, Jeanni Lagle, they began examining the girl and subjecting her to various tests, including a brain scan. After not getting satisfactory results, they put their research on hold, but still kept in touch with Christina.

Instead of love, there was only more abuse in the marriage

Desperate for a life away from her tyrannical parents, Christina ran away with a man named James Bennett in 1986 at just 16 years old. She later married him, but she did not find happiness in her life even with him. Instead of love, all she got was further abuse, with James keeping her locked up, beating her brutally and chasing her every step of the way. Christina eventually managed to escape from her husband, found a new boyfriend, Larry Boyer, but fell into depression and struggled with an eating disorder due to her deteriorating health. Her failing health eventually landed her in the hospital, where she discovered she was pregnant. Subsequently, on September 29, 1988, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl whom she named Amber. James was still stalking and threatening her at the time, but eventually in 1990 Christina was able to obtain a divorce so she could marry her new boyfriend. Christina was not lucky this time either.

Rapists were attracted to her like a magnet

She proved to attract abusers like a magnet, as Larry also started beating her after a few months of marriage. A social worker even became interested in Christina and her daughter, who threatened that Amber would be taken away from Christina if she did not leave Larry. One day, when Larry was placed in prison for his violent behavior, Christina packed her suitcase and traveled with her daughter to Georgia, where her old acquaintances, Bill and Jeannie, lived. She was looking forward to finally starting a new life with their help. Christina began attending parenting classes as well as math classes to supplement her knowledge and education. However, she did not have enough money for a nanny, so she had trouble finding a job. So she lived only on social benefits. In 1991, she got into such financial trouble that she was threatened with eviction and had almost no food. Nevertheless, she wanted to give her daughter a Christmas present, so she signed her up for a program of a local radio station that fulfilled children’s Christmas wishes. The following year, hope for a better tomorrow dawned on Christina when she met a man named David Herrin. He had a daughter Ashley the same age as Amber. With David taking care of both children, Christina was finally able to find a job. Amber was said to be a very hyperactive child and could not stay long with one activity. Later, Christina began to notice that her daughter often had various bruises or scratches when David was taking care of her. However, he blamed it on the fact that the little girl often fell.

Her daughter died as a result of the blows

It was April 14, 1992, when David was supposed to be taking care of Amber again while Christina had a date with Jeannie. She left her daughter with David despite returning home only the day before to find her daughter with a swollen face and new bruises. She even looked so bad that Christina and David considered taking the girl to the hospital. However, Christina was afraid that her daughter would be taken away from her, so she only consulted Jeannie, who advised her to keep a close eye on her daughter. But when she came home from the meeting that day, David ran out to meet her, saying that he couldn’t wake Amber from her sleep. They loaded the lifeless girl into the car and David rushed to the hospital while Christina tried to resuscitate her. At the hospital, the girl was taken care of by doctors who immediately took her to the operating room. However, despite all their efforts, Amber unfortunately died.

There are petitions for her release

After the girl’s death, Christina was arrested and the media referred to her as the so-called baby killer. During the trial, both Christina and David blamed each other for who fatally wounded the girl. Christina wandered into a prison cell and was not even allowed to attend her daughter’s funeral. Three years after the tragic event, she was sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years with the possibility of parole and is currently in state prison Pulaski in Hawkinsville, Georgia. David was (rather unfairly) sentenced to just 20 years for child abuse when he was released from state prison in 2011 Dooley. Christina appeared in several documentaries where she described her cruel childhood, her obsession with a poltergeist and her relationship with her daughter, whom she said she loved above all else. Although she agreed to a plea deal at trial to avoid the death penalty, she continued to feel innocent. Currently, there are even petitions that aim to free Christina, and many people are convinced that Christina was wrongly convicted.
