The Czech game Gray Zone Warfare has huge ambitions! It’s out today and it looks fantastic

• The Brno-based studio Madfinger Games is releasing the expected Gray Zone Warfare event today
• It is a complex tactical PvPvE shooter with realistic graphics
• At the moment it is only released on PCs, in the future it will also be available on game consoles

After months of waiting, it’s finally here. The Brno-based studio Madfinger Games, famous especially for hits such as Shadowgun Legends and Dead Trigger 2, released its latest venture into the world — Gray Zone Warfare. It promises exciting tactical action in a realistic presentation with an emphasis on strategy and cooperation. Unlike the previous games, Gray Zone Warfare is not coming to phones, which is quite understandable due to the size and graphic design.

With Gray Zone Warfare, Madfinger ventures into uncharted waters of more complex game systems and tactical focus. This is somehow also reflected in mobile titles, but the novelty is more reminiscent a military simulation in the style of Escape from Tarkov or ArmA. You will find yourself on the map of the total area 42 kilometers in the fictional country of Lamangwhich was inspired by Laos, while you will part of a team of up to 4 players.

What is Gray Zone Warfare?

You’ll have fun with friends or random teammates a bunch of combat missions, where great emphasis will be placed not only on your marksmanship, but also on strategy. In addition, you will have to follow the drinking regime, monitor the inventory capacity and avoid radiation. In Madfinger they also focused on a unique injury system, instead of standard hitboxes, each injury is said to be specific and can put you at a disadvantage in the next progression.

The game is type PvPvE, which combines PvP (player versus player) and PvE (player versus environment) elements. In practice, this means that in PvPvE players fight both against each other and against computer-controlled enemies. Used Unreal Engine 5 then takes care of a nice graphic jacket, but also advanced animations. There is of course a story in the game that is told through missions, the players themselves find themselves in the shoes of an experienced special forces veteran and choose one of three factions PMC (Private Military Company)each of which pursues its own goals on the island.

Gray Zone Warfare is heading right now for computers only, eventually the Czech studio would like to get its project to consoles, but their development may take several years. It should be added that at present there is no support for gamepadswhich should change over time according to the study.

The hardware requirements for Gray Zone Warfare have also appeared on Steam today. You’ll need a solid PC with an older flagship graphics card or a newer mid-range one to run smoothly.

Gray Zone Warfare is in Early Access, so expect it to evolve and expand over time. If you’re looking for a challenge and can put up with strategic thinking combined with gaming skills, Gray Zone Warfare definitely has a lot to offer (judging by the first screenshots). There is available from today (April 30) on Steam.
