They found 400 bodies in mass graves at hospitals in the Gaza Strip iRADIO

--

Nearly 400 bodies were exhumed by Palestinian rescuers from mass graves near hospitals in the Gaza Strip. According to Palestinian sources, there were also children’s bodies in the graves. Both the United States and the UN are requesting an investigation into the circumstances under which they were created. The Palestinians themselves admit that some of the graves were created even before the Israeli military operation. And CNN also talked to people who temporarily placed their relatives in the graves. Nevertheless, the Palestinians point to the Israelis as the main culprits.

The graves were in hospitals, specifically in Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis in the south of the Gaza Strip, also in Shifa Hospital in the north. The fact that such graves were being created was known throughout the war. But the exhumation of the bodies only began after the Israeli soldiers had recently left the hospital premises and their surroundings.

According to the Palestinian Civil Defense, they have so far managed to identify 165 bodies out of 392 found. People are reportedly still flocking to the discovery sites in the hope of finding the remains of their loved ones there. Some of the bodies bear signs of torture, according to Palestinian sources.

Bodies in surgical gowns were also allegedly buried there, which Palestinian sources want to show that doctors and hospital patients were also buried there. There has also been a claim that at least 20 people were buried alive, but it is not at all clear on what basis the Palestinian authorities make such a judgment.

Three mass graves were found in Khan Yunis Hospital and one in Shifa Hospital. Palestinian authorities say most of the bodies were buried there during the time the hospital was occupied by the Israeli army. They say that many patients and doctors lost their lives then.

On the contrary, the Israeli army claims that it occupied the hospital because Hamas gunmen were hiding there and many of the victims were them. The graves were allegedly exhumed by Israeli soldiers because they were looking for Israeli hostages and investigating whether they were buried there. But they add that all the bodies they exhumed were returned to the places where they were originally buried.

In the current conditions, the big question remains whether the event will be able to be investigated independently. The United States, for example, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, is now calling for this. He said that the United States has questions about Israel and the whole matter must be investigated.

The UN is even calling for the preservation of evidence to investigate the matter. Any independent audit or investigation is also complicated by the fact that Israel and Egypt do not allow journalists into the Gaza Strip who might be able to illuminate the entire case with their independent work.

Only journalists who were there before the war still work in the Gaza Strip. So they are Palestinians who work for foreign media.
