The situation at the front is getting worse, said the head of the Ukrainian army Syrskyi

--

Syrskyj pointed to the large number of Russian air strikes on the country’s energy infrastructure in recent weeks. According to him, Ukraine also urgently needs additional missiles, ammunition, military equipment and combat equipment.

Syrskyj also said that at the meeting of the contact group he thanked the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who announced on Friday that the United States will buy missiles for anti-aircraft batteries and other military equipment worth six billion dollars (over CZK 140 billion) for Ukraine.

US support for the country, which is resisting Russian military aggression, is seen as crucial. However, it was crippled for several months by Republican lawmakers’ resistance to earmarking additional funds for the purpose. According to President Joe Biden’s administration, these delays caused significant damage to the Ukrainians on the battlefield.

In its briefing today on the situation on the battlefield, the Russian army said that Russian troops captured the villages of Novomychaylivka and Bohdanivka in the Donetsk region and “advanced deep into enemy defenses.”

The information of the hostile parties could not be verified. Even Western military experts, however, recognize individual tactical successes of the Russian troops and confirm partial shifts in the front lines.
