Five dead after Russian attack on Odessa. Four-year-old girl fights for her life, ‘Harry Potter’s castle’ hit

Three women and one man were killed in the attack on Odesa, the city’s mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov first announced on the Telegram social network. A 63-year-old man later died of his injuries in hospital.

The head of the regional administration, Oleh Kiper, confirmed that two children and a pregnant woman were among the wounded. Four injured, including a four-year-old girl, are in critical condition, doctors are fighting for their lives, he added later.

Former pro-Russian deputy Serhiy Kivalov was also injured in the attack, Ukrainska pravda website reported, adding that the former politician underwent surgery after a leg injury.

The injured ex-deputy was a member of the now-banned Party of Regions of ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, who fled to exile in Russia.

Ukrainian defenders shot down a Russian missile over the port city, the Odessa server Dumskaja reported. He added that explosions were heard in the city and that the Palace of Students, nicknamed “Harry Potter’s castle”, caught fire after the strike. The private law school was connected precisely with Kivalov.
