Lukáš Machala, a close associate of Slovakia’s Minister of Culture Martina Šimkovičová, expressed doubts that the Earth is round is scientifically supported. The Refreshernews.sk portal informed about it. Machal was talked about as a possible next director of Slovak Television and Radio (STVR), but he denied that he wanted to be one.

Machala was responding to a journalist’s question as to whether people who claim that the Earth is flat should also be given space on public television. “Is it proven that the Earth is round? I’m seriously asking – is it proven? Have you been in space? You haven’t, neither have I, I don’t know,” Machala said.

Last week, the Slovak government approved the draft law on the establishment of the STVR. According to representatives of Prime Minister Robert Fico’s government, public radio and television, which now operate under the name Radio and Television of Slovakia (RTVS), are one-sided in informing citizens. Culture Minister Šimkovičová wants television to give space to other opinions.

The Slovak media write about Machal that in the past he spread various misinformation, for example, that the Illuminati is preparing a third world war and that only Russian President Vladimir Putin can save the world.
