“Something unexpected happened, their (American) state declared a hybrid war on us, including legal and judicial war. He created a mechanism for the illegal appropriation of Russian valuables, which is completely contrary to international and our internal law,” stated Medvedev on Telegram, whose country wants to appropriate a piece of Ukraine, where it launched an invasion in 2022, in violation of international law.

Medvedev further stated that he would not let Russia enjoy an American hybrid war, but admitted that Moscow does not have a significant amount of American state assets and that Russia’s response to American confiscation will be “asymmetric.”
“We are talking about the execution, for example, based on a court decision, of the property of private individuals located in the jurisdiction of Russia,” wrote the Russian ex-president, saying that it would be money or movable and immovable property.
According to Medvedev, Russia could take this step based on the expansion of the existing law number 1194 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, which says that the Russian government can impose “retaliatory restrictions on the property and personal non-property rights of citizens and legal entities.” The Russian ex-president would like these rights to disappear directly and for Russia to confiscate American assets for the benefit of the state.
