A provoked attack is considered if a person touches a shark, catches it with a net or otherwise harasses it. It is also possible to count unwanted contacts among them, for example when a surfer hits a shark with his board.

Unprovoked attacks are initiated by the shark. They can be distinguished into three types. The first is called “hit-and-run” (hit and run). They usually don’t see a shark attack, the shark bites and then immediately disappears. Experts assume that in these cases the predator mistook the prey for prey.

The second type is “sneak attack” (malicious attack). Even in this case, the victim cannot see the shark and usually suffers very serious injuries that can end in death. From the beginning, the shark considers the human a victim and immediately attacks it as food. However, these attacks are very rare.

The third type of attack is the “bump-and-bite” (hit and bite). The shark circles around the victim, and before it bites, it hits it with its body and only then bites. In this way, the shark tests whether the object of its interest is suitable prey. The next bite then depends on the behavior of the bitten, any panicked behavior and violent movements will convince the shark that it is prey, and other bites usually follow, which are fatal.
