Diamonds inspire the most powerful LR Defender ever. It will arrive later this year

--

Already this year, the most powerful Land Rover Defender of all time will be presented. It is inspired by the shape of a diamond and at the same time will be the most luxurious representative from the model range.

The most powerful modern Land Rover Defender is currently produced with a supercharged five-liter V8. Although it seems that with up to 525 horses it is an extremely powerful monster for roads and off-road, but the famous British offroad manufacturer is starting to entice with a new, even more powerful variant. The first information even reveals that it will be the most powerful Defender ever, combining a pair of turbochargers with electrification.

Land Rover is showing us the upcoming spectacular for the first time in a taster, presenting a prototype in development camouflage as sandy dust swirls on a road leading up the side of rocks in the desert. Land Rover reveals that the most powerful Defender of all time will be called OCTA, and the unique name refers to the hardest known natural material. It is inspired by the octahedral shape of the diamond.

With the new most luxurious Defender, Land Rover also presents new emblems with the motif of a black diamond in a titanium ring. The new decoration will appear on the “Signature Graphic” decorative panels at the level of the side windows in the rear half of the body, as shown in the published photo.

The British manufacturer has not yet disclosed the specifications of the most powerful Defender, but it states that it will have a twin-turbocharged gasoline fork-eight cylinder with mild-hybrid electrification. And since Jaguar Land Rover uses technology from BMW in its latest models, we can expect a 4.4-liter eight-cylinder engine to appear in the Defender OCTA, which in the most powerful version for the Range Rover Sport SV has up to 635 horses.

The new Land Rover Defender OCTA is to be redesigned later this year, but the automaker has not yet revealed a closer date for the official debut. The novelty is currently undergoing demanding testing on snow and ice in Sweden, in the deserts around Dubai, on the German Nürburgring racing circuit and demanding off-road tracks in Utah, USA.
