The State Agricultural and Food Inspectorate constantly warns against food from Czech retail chains. Unfortunately, the situation does not seem to be improving, quite the opposite. At the same time, it is precisely the large chains that have the most errors on their account recently. At the same time, their severity is increasing rather than decreasing.
They have dared enough
However, something has to happen. After the case that just happened in Billa, really tough sanctions must come, otherwise the foreign business chains will continue to do what they want with us. After all, customers today have legitimate concerns about not buying something highly objectionable.
This time, SZPI made a really nasty find in Billa’s Brno store. “Some of the packaging was found to contain mold visible to the naked eye. Food is not considered safe if it shows signs of spoilage,” said the inspection regarding its findings with Black Forest ham, which was also sold under the private label Billy.
“Unsuitable storage temperatures of this product were not detected during the inspection. The food did not have an expiration date,” added SZPI, raising the question of how something like this could happen. If there was no error on the part of a particular store, it is quite possible that the problem already occurred in production.
Don’t eat it
Of course, such goods should not have been placed on the shelf at all, as the mold had reached an advanced stage and was clearly visible at first glance, as evidenced by the pictures. However, it is possible that people have bought this product elsewhere.

This product had an expiry date of 28 February 2024 and was sold in a 100 gram pack. The manufacturer does not appear to have been listed, but SZPI only states that the product was made for Billa.
