The new Aceman looks partly like a five-door MINI Cooper on steroids and partly like a shortened Countryman – and that’s basically what this model describes perfectly. With a length of just over four meters, it is some forty numbers shorter than the current Countryman and only slightly larger than the upcoming five-door Cooper.
It also takes over the technology from the new Cooper, which will be, as the current times require, only electric. Specifically, we are talking about the electric motor that turns the front wheels and the battery pack in the floor – initially there will be two performance versions equipped with different sized batteries (the more urban Aceman E and the more powerful Aceman SE with a longer range), the sporty version of the Aceman JCW should also arrive in time. But don’t expect internal combustion engines, MINI doesn’t count on those for this model.
Aceman E | Aceman SE | |
---|---|---|
Performance | 135 kW (184 hp) | 160 kW (218 hp) |
Torque | 290 Nm | 330 Nm |
Acceleration 0-100 km/h | 7.9 s | 7.1 s |
Maximal speed | 160 km/h | 170 km/h |
Battery capacity | 42.5 kWh | 54.2 kWh |
Arrival | 310 km | 406 km |
Charging | AC 11 kW, DC 75 kW | AC 11 kW, DC 95 kW |
The interior is also practically common to all three cars – minimalist architecture, fabric-trimmed dashboard and door panels, great details such as air conditioning handles and vents in a contrasting design, plus discreet ambient lighting underlining the right premium atmosphere.
In the center of all attention, however, is the large plate OLED touchscreen infotainment with advanced functions of mobile connectivity and online functionality, supplemented by a personal assistant in the form of the dog Spike, who will immediately and willingly fulfill your every wish – that is, what his digital capabilities allow him, so he probably won’t fetch.
Add to that enough space for four people and a 300-litre trunk (expandable to 1,005 liters by folding down the 60:40 split seatbacks) and you have a versatile compact crossover that the brand expects to be the biggest draw in its menu.
This is also related to the aggressive pricing policy with which Aceman will enter the Czech market already this June – the basic Aceman E will cost CZK 845,000 on the Czech market, while the more powerful Aceman SE will cost you CZK 954,200. The electric Volvo EX30 or the hybrid Lexus LBX will thus receive a very strong and ambitious competitor…
