Mitsubishi showed the rejuvenated ASX. Renault Captur’s little brother is now prettier and more usable in the real world

--

At this time last year, you could already order the second-generation Mitsubishi ASX, which moved down from the SUV-C segment, put on the coat of the Renault Captur and removed the French logos from it.

So, a year and a half after its launch on our market, a facelifted version arrives, which must follow the timetable of the Captur, which is why it appears so unusually early. Sure, it’s still Renault in disguise, but it will offer its own logos, wheels, modified bumpers and a specific front fascia.

Called an active sports crossover by the automaker, it will basically offer a three-cylinder petrol engine with a turbo output of 67 kW (91 hp) and a force of 160 Nm, which cooperates with a six-speed manual and promises a consumption of 5.7 liters per hundred.

Another option is a mild-hybrid four-cylinder 13-liter gasoline engine, which in combination with a six-speed manual will offer a power of 103 kW (140 hp) and a torque of 260 Nm, while in connection with a seven-speed automatic unit the power of the unit is 116 kW (157.7 hp) and a torque of 270 Nm.

The consumption of the mild-hybrid with the manual is 5.7 liters per hundred, while with the automatic we are talking about 5.8 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers.

Those interested in hybrid engines will welcome the petrol four-cylinder 16 engine connected to a multi-mode gearbox (2 stages for electric and 4 for petrol), which boasts a total output of 105 kW (142.7 hp), a torque of 144 Nm for the combustion engine, respectively 205 Nm for the electric engine and consumption under five liters per hundred.

However, the drives are nothing new, as you know them from the previous version, however, a revolution has occurred in the area of the info system, again thanks to Renault. He left his own interface and, like for example with Austral, switched to the automotive one from Google.

The biggest innovation is the info system with support for Google applications.

And that means access to the services of this American giant, including perfect online maps and other applications. Thanks to this integration, the modernized SUV ASX becomes much more usable for the real world and everyday (not only) motoring operation.

The new ASX will be launched on the Czech market in the fall of this year and covered by a five-year warranty limited to 100,000 km. In addition, hybrids get an eight-year battery warranty limited to a mileage of up to 160,000 km. However, by the time of the market premiere, we still expect the introduction of a plug-in hybrid, which in its initial design boasted a paper consumption of up to 1.4 liters per hundred.
