In a way, the Czech Republic has switched to a new economic model. From the pure capitalism that we had here in the 1990s and 2000s, when the most capable entrepreneurs and companies prevailed, we have a redistributive economy.
Feel free to take advantage
It also requires abilities, but a little different. The goal is to divert as little as possible to the state budget using various optimizations and, on the contrary, to extract as much as possible from it at the expense of others. Previously, all kinds of subsidies were paid mainly to companies, but today it has gone so far that hundreds of thousands of crowns to millions are paid to ordinary people, in short, to individuals.
Never in history has such a large amount of funds been distributed that can be used literally at any time. After all, today it is standard that you will receive a whole million crowns for the reconstruction of a house under the New Green Savings and the Repair Grandma’s House program. It is often a minimal amount, as you will receive additional hundreds of thousands of crowns for additional subsidies, for example for solar panels or a heat pump.
And now there’s a new grant that isn’t talked about much, but which, in theory, can be accessed by a huge number of people. Not much is known about it. This is a contribution for the purchase of an electric car. Fortunately, the sellers have already sensed the opportunity and are starting to actively offer discounts and even provide assistance with processing the subsidy. That’s how it should look anyway.
“Take advantage of the new subsidy call of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and get up to 200,000 CZK for the purchase of an M1 category electric car with a price of up to 1,500,000 CZK without VAT,” states, for example, the Volvista server. “From January 2024 to September 2025, entrepreneurs and companies have the opportunity to apply for state support for the purchase of electric cars or the construction of a charging station.“
The money is on the table
Yes, the subsidy is primarily intended for entrepreneurs. But the Czech Republic has a certain specificity. There are more than a million entrepreneurs or self-employed people. In addition, becoming one of them, namely setting up one of the freelance businesses, is not difficult at all, and it will cost you CZK 1,000 at the office. Just fill out the application and you are officially self-employed.
Considering the contribution amount, it can really pay off. After all, you won’t find 200,000 crowns on the street just like that. In the case of a commercial electric vehicle, the subsidy is even increased to 300,000 crowns. And that’s not all, you can also get a contribution of tens of thousands of crowns at a charging station near a family home. That pretty much covers it all for you.

In addition to vehicle dealers, banks and financing institutions can also help you with subsidies. You can solve the whole matter very elegantly with a favorable interest loan, which is also subsidized.
