As ParlamentníListy.cz found out, the singer Ewa Farna will perform at the Kmochův Kolín festival for the amount of CZK 617,584. Of this, 510,400 is for the singer and her associates, 107,184 CZK is value added tax. When it comes to artists, it is far from the only famous name.
As the program states, on Friday, June 7, from ten o’clock in the evening, the well-known band Olympic will play for the festival guests. Like Ewa Farna a day later, the band will play for an hour.
According to the register of contracts, the band Olympic is slightly cheaper than the Czech-Polish artist, it costs a total of CZK 390,000 plus VAT, so the final total is CZK 471,900. The contract is very detailed in what, apart from money, the city of Kolín will provide the musicians. The fact that he has to provide a covered stage and the rental and equipment of the spaces needed for the realization of the concert probably will not surprise anyone. That he should provide the artists with two equipped, clean and lockable dressing rooms is also not.
But in the contract it is also indicated what is the proper equipment of the dressing room. First, this dressing room must be on the ground floor. “Min. temperature 21 °C, hot water, soap, towels, mirror, hangers with hangers for costumes. A clean toilet in the immediate vicinity of the changing rooms, which will only be used by the Olympic group, soap and toilet paper for the toilet. In the dressing room, prepare catering according to attachment No. 1. On the stage, prepare 4 towels and 8 x 0.5 I – non-sparkling (large bottles are difficult to hold during the performance) for the group,” says the contract. The city must also provide two minibuses and one passenger car, as well as access to the backstage area.
The mention of recording is also interesting. “The organizer finally commits to his burden: to properly prepare and secure the concert in terms of social, technical, hygienic and security aspects. To ensure that video and audio recordings of artistic performances are not made at the concert or their radio or television broadcasts are carried out,” the contract states.

From the information provided to ParlamentnímListům.cz by the mayor of Kolín, Michael Kašpar, (STAN), it follows that this contract will be covered by the city budget, as the city is the organizer of the festival. As for the price of the additional costs of the Olympic group’s performance, the city seems to only count on the cost of accommodation in two single rooms.
According to the organizer, the total budget of the festival is 5,500,000 CZK, of which 27% will go to artists’ fees, i.e. approximately 1,485,000 CZK. The majority will fall on the invitation of Ewa Farná and the Olympic group, which, according to the contracts, bill a total of just under 1,090,000 CZK.
But we also asked about the reason why the band Olympic will perform at the festival. There is no doubt that the band is well-known and popular, however, as stated on the website, Kmochův Kolín is a wind music festival. The contract itself also defines the composition of the band and instruments: “Petr Janda, guitar – vocals, Milan Broum, bass guitar – vocals, Martin Vajgl – drums and their regular guest on keyboards – Pavel Březina.” Wind instruments are not mentioned.
“Brass music is of course central, but we are trying to supplement the program with other musical genres, and thus attract the widest possible spectrum of the audience to the festival, as we have been doing for many years and as the model has proven itself,” Mayor Michael replied to ParlamentnímList.cz Buffoon. The so-called indeed, non-genre artists have been performing at the festival for quite some time. Last year it was the band Čechomor and singer Richard Müller, in 2022 then Tata Bojs and Helena Vondráčková.
The mayor also did not forget to remind that he will receive more than a million crowns from the sponsors of Kolín, these are companies from Kolín, but also from outside Kolín. “We will get another approx. 700,000 crowns in subsidies, so these funds for artistic performances are funds that the city and the city management obtained through their active approach from companies supporting this festival,” the mayor told ParlamentnímListům.cz.
