Fraudsters invented a new system for withdrawing other people’s money, the police found out

Last week, a policeman arrested a man suspected of illegally withdrawing tens of thousands of crowns using this method. Richard Hrdina informed him about the incident today on the police’s crack website.

On the morning of the 20th, the police received a tip-off about a masked man who was suspicious of a masked man who had been withdrawing money from an ATM in Prague 1. The suspect was not at the ATM at the time of the search, but he was located in the shopping center on Republiky Square. The foreigner had no more than 160 thousand crowns in cash with him.

Meanwhile, a woman was drinking at the police station, someone took 40,000 crowns from her card. In the hearing, crime experts learned about a new way how fraudsters manage to defraud people of their pensions. At first, the customer will receive an SMS, for example, about the current tax payment, which contains a link to a page where the addressee should enter the data for Internet banking.

If he did, a bank employee would call him and claim that he had been attacked and asked to install a fake banking application on his mobile phone.

After downloading the application, they are supposed to send the payment card to their mobile phone, but then the NFC signal is transmitted to another mobile device, which the fraudster gave them at the ATM, so that they can withdraw their money in peace, explained the speaker. NFC technology is used for wireless payment using a card stored in the phone.

Since the fraudsters have access to the victim’s Internet banking, it is not a problem for them to change the protection limit on the card so that they can make withdrawals. If they can’t prove the damage to the fake bank application, they transfer the money to another account they have access to.

The 22-year-old foreigner, whose arrest helped the criminalists uncover the method, is in custody. He was accused of committing a criminal offense of unauthorized extortion, fraud and altering the means of payment, for which he was sentenced to death and eight years behind bars.

In this case, the last ones had a big father, that the detectives found their pensions in cash with him and they should be handed over to them, added the police officer. According to them, I should be beaten, the policeman therefore urges them to go to the nearest police station.
