Ostrava – The football players of Ostrava defeated Teplice 4:1 in the 26th round of the first league. Baník won at home in the top competition after seven matches and six months and jumped to fourth place in the table. Slezáné took a two-goal lead early on after goals from Abdullahi Tanko and Matúš Rusnák, and Ewerton added a third goal in the second half. The guests were reduced thanks to the 18-year-old Lithuanian debutant Nojus Audinis, but in the end, another substitute player, Quadri Adediran, made his mark. The North Bohemians have won a single point from the last three rounds and are ninth.

After a long wait for a home win, Ostrava tried to surprise the opponent with an unorthodox line-up and set-up and it paid off in the form of a quick goal. Already in the sixth minute, the home team passed through the center of the field following Frydrych’s pass and Klíma’s foot to the goal, where Tanko lost the ball for a moment, but then regained it and overcame the goalkeeper Ludha.

Baník was on his horse and increased the lead in the 22nd minute. Rusnák whistled through the right side to the goal, there he stuck the ball in the middle and left-footed the ground for the second time. The Slovak winger scored in the Czech league for the first time.

Although the circumstances did not help them, Teplice still raised their heads. Urbanec first put Letáček through from a long distance, and then Jásir had a shot at the corner from a small goal, but the home goalkeeper blocked his attempt. Four minutes before the half, even Křišťan didn’t make it. The guests won the ball in front of the penalty area with a press, but the Teplice midfielder crashed on Letáček. Immediately on the other side, Lischko headed the corner from close range and the helpless Ludha just watched as the ball ended up just wide.

Ostrava became numb to the defiance of the North Bohemians soon after the change of sides. In the 51st minute, Ewerton broke free inside the penalty area and “swept” the gallows with his right hand. The Brazilian midfielder scored for the ninth time in the league season and confirmed his role as the team’s top scorer.

The guests sympathetically did not resign even then and tried to be active. At the end, coach Frťala sent 18-year-old Lithuanian Audinis to the pitch in a triple substitution, and he headed it in the corner after only three minutes in his debut in the Czech league.

But Ostrava did not allow the drama and she hit the corner. In the 83rd minute, Frydrych’s goal was not valid after the intervention of the video referee, but in the 88th minute, the substitute Adediran asserted himself with emphasis. Baník claimed the highest league win since September with a 5:1 triumph over Zlín. Slezana defeated Teplice for the fourth time in a row and won for the third time in the last four rounds.

Coaches’ votes after the game:

Pavel Hapal (Ostrava): “We scored four goals and were finally effective. Fortunately, the opponent did not succeed. Teplice also had chances and situations. We are satisfied with the result, but we know that there were some mistakes. Especially in the passing game, we offered gains to the opponent there. But the team worked from the first to the last minute. I have to say that Teplice are an excellent team, organized, we appreciate the victory all the more.”

Zdenko Frťala (Teplice): “Efficiency was certainly one of the decisive factors today. We created five scoring opportunities in the first half alone. We didn’t use them, but it’s also important for us to be able to get into chances. I admit that we didn’t expect the home team to start today with three at the back. But when we got the score, we reacted to it. That wasn’t the decisive factor today, the decisive factor was the productivity. It’s important that we forget the match very quickly and prepare for Hradec. Audinis came to us late, but he has potential, what in terms of somatotype and individual ability. I believe he will become a member of the starting line-up.”
