In Prague 5, the reconstruction of Peroutkova Street will begin this year in its entire length, from the area near the Albert store to the Nová Waltrovka area. The work, which is in charge of the city’s Technical Communications Administration (TSK), will be divided into three construction seasons, so they should end in 2026. Deputy Mayor of the city Radek Janoušek (Prague 5 Sobě) told ČTK. According to him, the reconstruction will also result in the complete closure of a part of the street this year and next, which is an essential link for the residents of Malvazinek and Farkán.

TSK recently received a building permit for the reconstruction, which is not valid yet, and according to the deputy mayor, plans to start the work this year. According to the project, the works should include increasing road safety, supplementing pedestrian crossings, measures for cyclists and planting trees.

The area near Albert at the intersection of Peroutkova with the streets Na Václavce, U Mrázovka, Na Cihlářce and U Šalamounky will also receive modifications. There will be space for pedestrians, trees, benches and parking spaces. “For the part of the city, we perceive it positively, the current situation will improve, although the burden associated with the construction will be unpleasant,” said Janoušek about the project.

Part of the reconstruction will also be the repair of utility networks, which, according to the deputy mayor, will probably require the complete closure of the street between Waltrovka and Farkání this summer and next year during the holidays.

Drivers often use Peroutkova as a detour in case of heavy traffic in Radlická Street, which can therefore be expected to increase traffic during closures. For the district, it is essential to maintain the operation of bus 137, which is key for the transport service of the entire public transport system, added Janoušek.

Prague 5 is also considering the construction of an elementary school in Peroutková street, which the town hall management has not yet decided definitively. The Prague municipality is then preparing the construction of apartment buildings with rental housing on municipal land in the street intended for professions preferred by the city, such as teachers or health workers.
