One of the passengers pinched her fingers in the tram door. The others raised the alarm and the driver quickly stopped. The driver of the train following her, however, did not react in time and a collision occurred. The accident happened last year on the busy Karlovarská třída in Pilsen. Rescuers treated 27 slightly injured passengers. The tram was worse. The Railway Inspectorate has already closed the case, the police are still dealing with it.

“The proximate cause was failure to comply with driving conditions,” it says in the final report Railway inspection. The accident occurred between the Pod Záhorskem stop and the Zoo. Tram No. 4 hit the back of the train of Line No. 1, which unexpectedly stopped in front of it. In his statement, the driver with twelve years of experience stated that he checked in the rear-view mirrors whether everyone in the car was holding on. But the set suddenly stopped in front of him and, according to his words, he didn’t even have time to turn his head and react. He didn’t want to blame anyone. It was just an unfortunate coincidence, he said. He regretted the situation.

She wanted to help a passenger who pinched her hand in the door

The driver of the second car said that a warning signal from the passengers sounded in the cabin. That’s why she stopped and found out what happened. “Passengers told her that the lady’s hand was pinched in the door. She ran to the other end of the tram, where she found that the lady had her hand clamped between the frame and the one-piece door leaf. She tried to free her hand but couldn’t. Therefore, she ran back to the station to centrally open the door. Before she could finish, there was an impact and she fell down.” the report of the Railway Inspectorate states.

After that, the woman didn’t remember anything. Confusion reigned and there were many injured on the spot. “The total number of injured was 28 people. The most seriously injured was the tram driver, who was transported by paramedics to the emergency department of the University Hospital in Pilsen with moderate injuries. The rest of the people, including five children, suffered minor injuries and after initial treatment they went to the FN Plzeň na Lochotín and na Bory and also to the Mulač hospital. the spokesperson for the rescuers said at the time Mária Svobodová.

According to the inspectors, the damage to the cars amounted to 1,363,771 crowns. The case is being investigated by the police, who are currently awaiting the results of expert reports. Spokesperson for transport companies René Vávro for the iDNES server, he stated that internal disciplinary proceedings were conducted with the driver. He did not want to comment on further possible punishment.
