A copy of the Eiffel Tower will stand by Lake Most during the Olympic Festival. The 14-meter building will be made by experts using 3D printing from recycled material. The Olympic festival will take place at the water surface, which was created by the flooding of a lignite mining pit, during the time of the games in Paris, i.e. from July 26 to August 11. ASPEN.PR informed ČTK about the location of the tower by the lake today.
The tower will weigh 1.36 tons. It was completely developed and built for the Czech Olympic Committee by the Czech company 3DDen. The copy is made in Horní Počernice. “The whole process will take almost three months and it will be necessary to manufacture and assemble around 1,500 pieces of printed components. However, I like challenges, which is why I nodded at the offer to build such a monument,” said company founder Jan Hřebabecký. The recycled material comes from plastic waste fished out of the ocean.
At the festival, those interested will be able to try 50 sports, which is the highest number in the history of their organization. A tent city will be created by the lake, and the city will build a new pier in the shape of the Olympic rings on the water. “We are looking forward to cheering on the Czech athletes together, because after a long time the Olympic Games will be in the same time zone. For the first time, we will also have an Olympic camp for fans, and we believe that visitors will enjoy not only the whole day at the Olympic Festival, but also falling asleep near our version The Eiffel Tower. It will be our Bridge to Paris,” said Naďa Černá, project director of the Czech Olympic Committee.
There will also be an Olympic House and a zone for fans, where they will watch live broadcasts of the opening and closing of the Games as well as individual races. The area will be open daily from 09:00 to 19:00, on Friday and Saturday until 21:00.
Among others, the two-time Olympic champion in the javelin throw Barbora Špotáková will spend the World Sports Day in Most, the second ambassador of the event is former successful skier Ondřej Synek.
