Chef Zdeněk Pohlreich talked about the new program Czech Republic on the grill in the popular talk show 7 pádů Honza Dědek. In it, he also admitted that although he currently owns several restaurants, he no longer cooks in them. “I decided to reduce my working hours. But I cook at home because I have a wife,” said Pohlreich. He also revealed how he earned extra money during the times of socialism.

Even before Zdeněk Pohlreich became a recognized chef of famous Prague restaurants, he was selling carp before Christmas. “The worst part was when it was just above zero, because you feel the same cold, but the weight doesn’t freeze, it’s just not fun,” recalled Pohlreich in the 7 falls of Honza Dędek program. “That was still too much to drink,” he added.

The popular Czech chef also talked about the ritual he followed. “The boys and I had such a tradition that on December 23rd, when it was all over, we went to the pub to celebrate Christmas. We had one beer and fell asleep. We had purple intestines instead of hands. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done,” Pohlreich revealed.

Today, not only does he no longer sell carp, but he also no longer cooks it in his restaurants. “I decided to reduce my working hours. I cook at home because I have a wife. And I have to for my two dogs too. From what’s left or what’s currently on sale,” he surprised.

Although he is a recognized expert in the craft, he himself occasionally likes to indulge in the vices of serving fast food. “When I want to take a nap, I discreetly go to the window and there is a voice: “Come and see, Pohlreich is here. Can you sign for me?” This is what my visit to a fast food restaurant looks like,” he said amused.

When he visits, he always knows exactly what to get. “Traditionally, I have my order set, I order two pieces of fried chicken that I like, get in the car, eat it quickly on the way so it doesn’t explode on me at home,” admitted Pohlreich.

New program Czech Republic on the grill

In the talk show 7 pádů Honza Dědek Pohlreich spoke, among other things, about the new program Czech Republic on the grill, where together with his colleague Martin Svatek, they are in the role of judges. Both can support the contestants, but at the same time take them out of their comfort zone. The unique show is accompanied by popular presenters Tomáš Zástěra and Patricie Pagáčová.

The new competitive reality show Czech Republic on the grill is defined by hot grills, the sun overhead, tension and a good dose of emotions. Ten pairs of barbecue lovers compete for the title of Grillmaster of the Year and an interesting win in a battle over hot coals under the strict supervision of an uncompromising jury.
