Also in the Liberec region, a police action aimed at controlling exceeding the maximum permitted speed, called Speedmarathon, took place on Friday. Places to measure were suggested by the public, and the police finally chose sixty of them.
“Unfortunately, some tips had to be discarded by the police because it was not possible to measure at the proposed places, such as the top of Ještěd, the landing area of the Liberec airport or the center of the Mšeno water reservoir in Jablonec nad Nisou,” said the police prevention officer Libor Barták.
In the end, they measured sixty places, several repeatedly. They checked a total of 198 vehicles and found 94 traffic violations. In 71 cases, drivers exceeded the maximum speed limit. A total of 64 drivers exceeded the speed limit in the municipality and 7 outside the municipality. “Of the listed offenders, five drivers were holding a telephone or other talking or recording device while driving and four drivers were not wearing a seat belt or restraint system. Five vehicles were found by the police to be in unsatisfactory technical condition. The rest of the offenses related to the way of driving, driving in traffic lanes, cyclists and pedestrians.” Barták calculated.
A total of 87 offenses were dealt with on the spot by the police officers in the total amount of 150,200 crowns, 7 offenses were reported to the administrative body and one driver’s driver’s license was suspended for speeding.
