The city of Pilsen has a Smart City Strategy for the years 2024 to 2028. Pilsen representatives approved a document in which many aspects of public life in the city are addressed and smart solutions and approaches are sought in them. Individual chapters of the document touch on several areas, for example environmental care, public lighting, urban energy, crime prevention and many others.

“Innovative approaches referred to as SMART solutions represent a specific form that is based on the use of modern technological tools, procedures and services, but not only them. Nowadays, they are constantly being improved, updated and expanded with new knowledge and approaches using the latest technology. At the same time, our strategic plan responds to societal trends such as urbanization, migration, destabilization of society and inequalities between regions, housing shortage or digitization, artificial intelligence, automation, and much more,” said the Pilsen city councilor for the area of Smart Cities and business support Daniel Kos. He reminded that the city had already prepared a similar strategy for the years 2019 to 2023. The city of Pilsen has a lot of experience with the Smart City concept and has implemented a number of important projects, which it wants to build on, expand and connect in the years 2024 to 2028. However, the plan also brings a whole range of new solutions. The city of Pilsen is often considered a model in this area for other cities and regions.

“At the same time, the concept is prepared in accordance with valid strategies and other conceptual documents of our city as well as with superior government documents at the national level, which is a prerequisite for the eventual drawing of Czech and European subsidies,” he pointed out Daniel Kos. He pointed out that the most prominent actors in the field of Smart City are the Information Technology Administration of the City of Pilsen (SITMP), the Pilsen Municipal Transport Enterprises (PMDP) or the Department of Smart City and Business Support of the Municipality of Pilsen.

“During the preparation of the document, parties interested in the Smart City issue met at more than two dozen thematic meetings, and important city actors who will be affected by smart solutions in some way commented on and supplemented the emerging document,” he added Daniel Kos.
