One thing cannot be denied to Fial’s rule – bulldog determination. On Wednesday, the government received a proposal from the Minister of Culture to determine the “status of an artist”, after which 1,400 vetted comrades and comrades are to be selected and they will share 126 million crowns. When it came, I blinked and said, damn, I already wrote about that! Google helped me, and after less than a year (the text is from 26.7. last year) I can take over the editorial from that time:

On Wednesday, the Minister of Culture Martin Baxa is to present to the government a project to enact the status of an artist. In the accompanying media sauce, it is emphasized that the European Parliament is also dealing with the “problem”. This is already a signal for the utmost caution. “It is a support tool for the most endangered groups of artists. We are at the beginning of a long-term process that is not bounded and definitive and will evolve over time in relation to current needs,” promised Baxa recently in relation to a demonstration that demanded “artist status”.

It’s dizzying how everything comes back in an arc. Again, there are ideas on how to promote the right ideas and limit those that don’t pass: who will decide on this and according to what criteria, is the question. Under the previous regime, it was the Czech or Federal Press and Information Office, abbreviated as CÚTI or FÚTI. He controlled production and penalized offenders, thus establishing self-censorship. What is it? Anyone who writes something today and is under supervision so that they are not homophobic and xenophobic and anti-vaxer and putinophile can tell you about this, and when everything is put together, they get the status of desolate and anti-democratic far-right.

With the status of an artist, it’s a little different – it’s all about money. Whoever gets the status of an artist gets access to state money: today it is out of the question to say something about “taxpayers’ money”, because the state goes into debt and dilutes it with artificial price increases. Which puts us all at risk, but according to Baxa, artists are particularly at risk, so a hefty coffers must be opened for them. But to whom? The answer to that, my dear Watson, is simple: there will be commissions, with extraordinarily artistic artists sitting on them, because the degree of artistry will not be judged by any juda. Maybe we can get details from Minister Baxa, I can sign up as an advisor. I remember a lot, all kinds of art commissions, round stamps! However, I think that Minister Baxa will not need any advice. When it comes to giving away from strangers, these people are smart enough.

End of last year’s editorial. I didn’t even have to change the Wednesday! In that year, nothing has changed at all, nonsense about “endangered artists” and the European Parliament. The interesting thing is that the Minister of Culture is a member of the ODS and this government is classified as “right-wing”.

I’ll just add that you don’t have to doubt my knowledge of the environment, I come from an artistic family, my father is a writer, my mother is an actress, my uncle is a painter and it goes with me, my son is a photographer, my wife is an actress. So I can boldly state that the art community is a bunch of bickering and bickering and foot-stomping bastards, so the fight over the 126 megas handed out to the 1400 chosen will be a mud fight to watch. Although…

The parameters of who is eligible have been published: the control will be so crazy that only the most stubborn will ask for appanage, and the costs for alignment will exceed the 126 mega allocated perhaps from EU money (we are not building roads, we are building lookouts).

Czech politics

On the resignation of Helena Langšádlová from the post of Minister for Science, Research and Innovation: They assigned a useless ministry to a useless party, after which the useless minister resigned unnecessarily. None of the above changes the final result.
