We have added information from the Police of the Czech Republic about the possible release from service of the prosecuted policewoman.

Investigators from the General Inspection of Security Forces (GIBS) on Wednesday charged a policeman and a policewoman who drunkenly assaulted several girls in a bar in Prague’s Smíchov in February and then injured one in front of the bar. Aleš Cimbala, the spokesman for the Prague city prosecutors, confirmed this to Novinky.cz.

“In the case in question, on April 24, criminal prosecution was initiated against two natural persons – members of the security forces for conduct that was qualified as the misdemeanor of disorderly conduct, partly committed independently, partly in complicity. One of the accused persons was also charged with the crime of grievous bodily harm,” said Cimbala.

As he specified, the charge of bodily harm concerns a policeman who injured a nineteen-year-old girl in an incident on the street in front of a bar on Nádražní street in Prague 5 on the night of February 17. Both he and his life partner are responsible for the rioting.

The girl who was attacked by the police outside the bar suffered a broken leg. She had to undergo surgery and her healing time exceeded six weeks.

According to ČTK, the policeman who is off duty faces up to ten years in prison, his girlfriend up to two years. Today, the police announced on Platform X that, due to the criminal prosecution of the policewoman, her superior will now conduct proceedings against her, which may also lead to her being relieved of duty.
