Today, in sunny weather, the 9th year of the Pilsen Region Half Marathon family race saw a record 1,550 adult runners, and there were roughly 250 small competitors in the children’s races. Last year’s winner Adam Korecký became the absolute winner of the half-marathon course. The Plzeň region also collected 25,920 CZK for the holiday stays of children from substitute family care as part of the “Water helps” project.

“This year, we had more than 1,700 registered runners of all categories, and this is the driving force for us for the next year, which will be the jubilee – the tenth. The visitors were also satisfied, because the accompanying program was very varied this year, and I am glad that, like the region supported the “Water helps” project, visitors to the area could also join in and support Diakonia by buying bottles of water. I would also like to thank the representatives of the Cesta za snem organization, who, by providing special trainers, enabled visitors to try what it’s like to ride a handbike and thus compete with athletes with a handicap “ he says Governor of the Pilsen Region, Rudolf Špoták.

An absolute winner Adam Korecký became last year’s best man with a time of 1:15:25who donated last year’s prize to the Children’s Diabetology FN Plzeň. “Defending every win is difficult, but I had it in my head. I enjoyed the track and I’m glad the weather worked out,” said Adam Korecký after the race and added: “I also want to donate this year’s prize to FN Plzeň, but I haven’t yet decided which department specifically. I have decided to donate all the prize money to a good cause.” Tomáš Eisner, the winner of several previous years, finished in second place, and Petr Minařík finished third. Among women the absolute winner is Teodora Chvalová with a time of 1:26:35followed by Kristýna Eisnerová in second, Petra Doležalová in third.
