Just one day before the so-called burning of the witches, meteorologists issued a warning for the Pilsen region against the dangerous occurrence of fires due to drought, high temperatures and strong winds. It will be valid until the second of May.
“As a result of the drought, there is a danger of fires and subsequent damage, possibly even endangering lives. We recommend not to light a fire in nature and especially in forests, not to burn grass, not to throw cigarette butts on the ground, not to use portable stoves and other sources of open fire. warns the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute. The warning applies to the entire territory of the Pilsen region for: Horažďovice, the districts of Pilsen – city, Pilsen-sever, Pilsen-south and Rokycany. With this warning, making fires in selected places is prohibited in the affected areas.

In the event that the ČHMÚ publishes a DANGER OF FIRE warning as part of the integrated warning service system, there is a period of adverse climatic conditions, when the following activities are prohibited based on Pilsen Region Regulation No. 5/2016:
- Making or maintaining an open fire (e.g. burning twigs and bark, burning flammable substances in the open)
- Smoking (except e-cigarettes)
- Use of pyrotechnic products
- Using other sources of ignition, e.g. lanterns, torches
- Throwing burning or smoldering objects
- Driving a steam locomotive unless safety measures are in place to prevent fire
- Consumption of water from a fire-fighting source for purposes other than fire-fighting
- Driving motor vehicles in the wild off roads (this provision does not apply to driving motor vehicles that are intended for work and economic activity in forests and fields, to driving motor vehicles on field and forest roads to buildings for housing and buildings for individual recreation, for driving vehicles of components of the integrated rescue system)
