LITOMYŠL – After a successful launch in Prague and New York, the Czech Composers exhibition is being moved to the city. You will be reminded of the four great names of music in Bohemia – Bedřich Smetana, Antonín Dvořák, Leoš Janáček and Bohuslav Martinů.

Let yourself be drawn into the fascinating world of composers and become a part of the works of classical music for a while at the traveling exhibition Famous Czech Composers. “Four big names in Czech music, which have become a world phenomenon, can be seen at the exhibition in Litomyšl until 7/7/2024. Their works are different, but they have something in common. An unmistakable character that comes from Czech roots and creates an image of Czech culture around the world,” said city spokeswoman Petra Jiráňová.

Interesting cartoon scenes, illustrated by Alexej Klyukov, illustrate the topics chosen by the authors Sandra Bergmannová and Veronika Vejvodová. You can imagine the inspirations and experiences that had a fundamental influence on the thinking of these musical geniuses and the creative process that led to the creation of major orchestral works, chamber works, but also operas such as The Bartered Bride by Bedřich Smetana, Dvořák’s Rusalka, Janáček’s Adventures of the Vixen Bystrouška and Martin’s Juliette. You can view the collection items on the touch screen and listen to the works that are closely related to the individual themes of the exhibition. The entire exhibition will last until the seventh of July.

Where in the city you can see the exhibition

The exhibition begins with a walk around Smetana Square. It starts in the passage to the Town Hall Yard and continues along the windows of local vendors. In some of them, other fragments of an attractive project are placed, which are available to you throughout the day.
