“The purpose of the decree is to change the traffic signs in the streets Králodvorská, Dlouhá, Soukenická, Kozí, Pařížská, Břehová, Revoluční, Dvořákovo nábřeží and 17th November, the introduction of which will calm down the core part of the Old Town,” the mayor of the first city district reminded of the motivation behind the decree Terezia Radomerská.
“The decree will apply to all motor vehicles with the exception of traffic attendants,” she added.

The situation from last year, when the municipal department canceled the decree, should not be repeated.
“We have now discussed the proposal with the municipality in advance and then modified it according to his comments,” claims the deputy for transport of Prague 1 Vojtěch Ryvola, although according to him the material has undergone mainly formal changes and in principle it is an identical measure.
The installation of prohibition signs with an additional table last November surprised the administration of the municipality, led by Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda (ODS), who stated that he had not been informed about the event.
Prague 1 announced shortly after the cancellation of the decree that it intended to reinstate the ban.
According to Prague 1, the decree should come into force in June at the latest. Now the public can comment on it. It was at the instigation of people who complain about the disturbance of night peace or the blocking of reserved parking spaces that the proposal of the city district was created.
According to the rationale, its goal is “maintaining a calm and safe environment for the well-being of residents, environmental protection and overall quality of life.”
