Czech Republic – Slovakia 2:3, Big trouble. The Czech youths prepared themselves for advancing to the semi-finals with their own rudeness

--

The Czech representatives did not enter the match well at all. Already in the 2nd minute, Tomáš Galvas made a mistake in passing, which Radim Mrtka had to extinguish with a foul. And the Slovaks punished him after 17 seconds with a hidden throw from Tomík.

The national team also got a power play after that and struck three seconds after its end. In the goal area, the strong Adam Titlbach hit the post from the first stop, but the second time he knocked the puck into the net and equalized.

David Čermák’s men were more active after that and created interesting shooting opportunities with good movement and attacking, but did not add another goal. On the other hand, the problem arose in the 19th minute, when Mrtka hit Tomík with his knee, and the referees, after a lengthy review of the video, awarded a penalty for five minutes and until the end of the match.

The Czechs overcame a long period of weakness and took the initiative again in the second period. A free Martin Vaculík had a great chance between the circles, but he missed the half-empty Slovakian goal. On the contrary, Slovakia struck from a rare chance, and again it was after a Czech mistake. Martin Švec, who took Mrtko’s place in the second defensive pair, did not play accurately and Ondřej Maruna, in a pinch, luckily passed the puck past Jakub Milota.

The national team was able to lock the opponent in the defensive zone, but it was difficult to get opportunities. On the contrary, he offered the Slovaks more tutkos with his rudeness. Andreas Straka was able to take advantage of the lack of emphasis in front of the Czech goal, but he only hit the moving Milota with his backhand.

The Czech youngsters went into the third period with the goal of turning the score around, but another unprecedented defensive miss gave them a crack in their plan. This time it was the fault of goalkeeper Milota, who knocked Maruna’s weak shot from an angle behind him.

Then the representatives played in a big spasm. A lone Titlbach was able to reduce, but he did not get close. Milota then at least partly made up for his mistake when he picked up a separate escape from Pobežala.

The goal of hope was created nine minutes before the end by defender Jakub Fibigr, who tapped Galvas for a pass and then headed into the top corner of the goal from the left circle.

Tomáš Poletín could then equalize from the stop in the goal area, but he only hit the post. The Czech pressure then blunted an unnecessary attacking foul by the Swede five minutes before the end, and after the defensive weakening, the national selection could not settle in the zone at all. He didn’t get another chance and had to suffer a bitter defeat 2:3.
