Pilsners, beware. Freedom celebrations will limit traffic in the city

During the Freedom Celebrations, which will take place in Pilsen from Friday 3rd to Monday 6th May, traffic in the city will be greatly restricted.

It will not be possible to park in many places in the historic center, and the organizers recommend using the Rychtářka parking garages, near OC Plzeň Plaza or the P+R parking lot on Emila Škoda Square and Dobřanská Street.

Republic square

It will not be possible to park on Republic Square from Friday, May 3 to Sunday, May 5, along the west, east (long road) and south sides of the square. On the south side (by the public toilets), the parking ban will only apply from 12 noon on Friday. This traffic measure will expire on Sunday, May 5 at 8 p.m.

On May 3, náměstí Republiky will be closed from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., the following day from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on May 5 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. On these days and hours, the entrances to the square via Prešovská, Františkánská, Dřevěná, Pražská and Dominikánská streets will be completely closed.

Buses on lines 20, 33 and 40 will be diverted through the Pětatřicátník gardens on Friday, May 3 from 6 to 7:45 p.m., their operation will be completely interrupted on Sunday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. lines 1 and 2, from 10:10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Wooden Street, Šafaříkovy and Kopecky gardens, Pobřežní Street and Pětatrycátníký gardens

In Dřevěná Street and Šafaříkovy Sady, parking will be prohibited from May 2 to 5 all day and night, and Dřevěná Street will also be completely closed on the same date. Drivers will not be able to park for up to 24 hours from 2 to 5 May even in Kopecky sady in the section Františkánská – Anglické nábřeží, in the section Jungmannova – Martinská from 5 p.m. on 2 May to 24 hours on 6 May, with the fact that this section it will not be passable on May 3 and 4. Parking and driving will not be possible from May 2 to 6 – 8 p.m. in the Pětatřicátníký orchards in the Palackého náměstí – Pobřežní section and in Pobřežní street in the Jízdecká – Pětatřicátníků orchards section.

From Thursday 5/2 to Monday 5/6, the parking lot at the Nové divadlo Parking Building will be closed, and it will only be possible to enter it from the Pětatrícátníkí gardens in the direction of the General Patton Bridge. Access from Jízdecká Street via Pobřežní Street is not possible.

Freedom Convoy – Sunday 5 May

On Sunday, May 5, Klatovská třída will be closed in both directions from 8:50 a.m. to 1 p.m., including exits from side streets in the U Trati and Rondel section, and Klatovská Street will be closed in both directions in the Majerova – U Trati section from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The last trams will pass the Sady Pětatřicátníků stops at 10:10 a.m. The restriction also applies to trolleybus lines 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, bus lines 20, 27, 28, 34, 41 and tram line No. 4 from the direction of Bory. In the opposite direction, a replacement bus service will be established with the final stop at Rondel.

Tram line No. 1 will be replaced by bus service in the direction from Bolevka, it will also go to the final station Rondel. In the direction from Slovan, the final station will be Angliské nábřeží. Tram line No. 2 will have its terminus at Angliké nábřeží, and in the direction from Skvrňany to Palackého náměstí. Pedestrian crossings will be left open until 11 a.m., i.e. the crossing at U Práce, the crossing at the Great Synagogue in the Pětatrícátník gardens and at the Hlavní pošta. Sukova Street in Bory will be closed from 8 a.m. until the convoy departs. Access to Area Bory will be made possible via Boettingerová street. During the whole time of the convoy, there will be limited traffic in the access roads to Klatovská třída.

Memorial Act Thanks, America! – Monday, May 6

On Monday, May 6, parking will be prohibited in V Šipce street from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and cars will not even be allowed to enter it from 5 p.m. Between 4 and 9 p.m., the right lane on Klatovská třída will be closed in the direction of the center in the section from Havlíčkova street to Americká. From 17:00 to 21:00, Americká Street will also be closed to all traffic, including public transport, in the section from Klatovská to Jungmannova Street. At the same time, from May 5 at 4 a.m. to May 6 at 24 a.m., the U Práce public transport trolleybus and bus stop in the direction of the train station will be moved to the intersection of Škroupova and Americká streets. From 5 p.m. on May 4th to midnight on May 6th, it will not be possible to park on Americká in the section between V Šipce and Škroupova streets, and on May 5th and 6th, the supply area under the U Práce stop will also be closed.

Sunday's match between Viktoria Plzeň and Mlada Boleslaví will be part of the Freedom Celebration.

The city recommends that visitors park on the outskirts of the metropolis and travel by public transport.
