“It’s a rush of absolutely indescribable and beautiful feelings. After all, not everyone can do something like that. Moreover, in such a tense match against Chválkovice, who aim to advance to a higher competition. I’ll definitely remember it for a long time,” says this young fighter, who plays as a midfielder and, as he himself states, has been more and more offensive lately.
His moment of glory came seven minutes after the break, when one of his team-mates in the box sunk a long kick straight to his left. “At that moment I knew that I didn’t have a hammer in my leg, so I rather described it to the bar and it rolled there with a little luck,” he described, adding: “At first, none of the teammates and coaches really believed it, because I’m not really a shooter, but of course everyone was happy and congratulated me.”

With a win over a huge favorite, whose jersey is worn by, for example, Roman Hubník or Martin Vyskočil, Sigma from Hodolan ended an unpleasant series of three losses in a row and stayed in tenth place in the table, as the eleventh Bělkovice-Lašťany also won. It may be a little ironic of fate that the previous two losses were inflicted on Milan Kovařík Slavonín’s team with Bělkovice, i.e. the teams in the table around them.
“It’s interesting. I also remember the match against the third-ranked Hlubočky, which we lost, but we thoroughly overwhelmed them. I personally am glad for these experiences. And also for experiences, because playing against such excellent footballers is something from the realm of dreams. Otherwise, I don’t know why we do so well against the quality teams and not so much against the worse ones,” says Charamza.
“But I think it’s also a lot about our fans. The atmosphere it creates is absolutely unreal and it actually plays itself out in it. They are one of the greatest prides of Hodolana and at the same time an element that will keep me here for the rest of my football life,” adds the fighter, who at the age of just sixteen is experiencing his first season among men, with respect in his voice.
The biggest change? The one off the field
“Of course it’s a change for me, but the biggest one happened off the field. As the youngest, I was put in charge of things like preparing drinks, carrying balloons, jerseys and so on. As for the game itself, it’s much more about tactics and less about running and physics. It will take me a long time to get used to it, but the hardest part is probably already behind me,” describes the student of Olomouc’s Slavic Gymnasium, who would like to study economics or medicine after graduation, which, according to him, might not please his father, who is also a doctor.
So these are his ambitions in his personal and professional life. But what are his goals on the football field? “I would like to become known in Hodolany. For example, the fact that I started playing football in them and ended up playing it in them. So far, I have only been in Holica for a while. So I don’t have any high ambitions, I just want to help my club as much as possible and enjoy it,” he explains.

And his club is waiting for another match before long. Already this Sunday, from the unusual 10 o’clock in the morning, they will present themselves on the field of the fifth Opatovice, who, despite their high position, will bring with them a rather unflattering series of five defeats in a row. This represents a huge chance for a point gain for Sigma.
“It is important not to underestimate such matches. We have to properly prepare for it. For one thing, we play outside and in the morning, which surprised me quite a bit. But anyway, I would tell Opatovice that they can look forward to loading,” laughed Jan Charamza at the very end.
