Cultural enrichment, connection with nature, a new tourist destination for cross-country skiing, but also a place for rest or meeting. These are the main attributes that the new nature area has to fulfill. The amphitheater with a capacity of 500 people was built on Rochus near the open-air museum by the Uhersko-Hradišť town hall in a joint project with the town of Púchov.
“Such a place in the heart of Slovácko has been missing for a long time, and that’s why I’m very glad that it was created right here, in a picturesque environment above the city, where the surrounding nature creates the best backdrops for culture, art and various other types of entertainment.” the mayor of Uherské Hradiště, Stanislav Blaha, highlighted the contribution of the natural amphitheater.
The amphitheater offers a semi-circular stage with a radius of 12.5 meters, which is accessible from all sides. The auditorium is arranged in steps and thus allows a good view of the scene from every place. The access roads are solved by a ramp staircase and are lit for the safety of visitors.
“Rochus Park and Open-Air Museum organizes a large number of events throughout the year, which will find their new place here. But the creation of the amphitheater opens up new opportunities for other organizers from the city, who will organize a whole series of events here already this year.” said the mayor.
A new zone for parents with children was also created at the amphitheater, which complements it operationally and functionally. The playground offers a variety of play elements for all age categories of children, there is also shaded seating under a removable awning.
Construction of the amphitheater began at the end of March 2023 and ended at the end of July 2023. The total costs, including the playground and furniture, amounted to 12.7 million crowns.
