This morning, the police chased a man driving away from Starý Plzeň on a Yamaha motorcycle, which they knew had been stolen during the night. The man was driving very fast and very recklessly, so situations repeatedly occurred where only the skill and alertness of other drivers prevented several imminent traffic accidents.
The police gave the motorcycle driver repeated calls to stop, but he ignored them and continued to try to drive away at high speed. The police therefore created a roadblock on Nepomucká Street with the help of a company car, which the offender tried to bypass on the recently restored sidewalk. However, the policemen were able to block the sidewalk with another vehicle, and when the man tried to avoid the company car, he ran onto the gravel, the machine lost control, crashed and was arrested by the policemen on the spot.
“I can confirm that we have been dealing with the case of the theft of a Yamaha motorcycle since last night. A few hours later, the police, in cooperation with the victim, managed to find out the location of the motorcycle according to the localization device. The perpetrator tried to drive away on the stolen motorcycle, but he was still detained.
Officers conducted a drug orientation test on the male suspect, born in 1978, which tested positive for methamphetamine and opiates, and further determined that he had a valid driving ban.” the police spokeswoman added, stating that criminal proceedings have been initiated in the matter and the police are now dealing with other circumstances of the case.
The perpetrator was placed in a police cell.
