The footballers of Olomouc Sigma did not go well at all on the way to the play-offs for participation in the European Conference League. In the Malšovice Arena in Králové-Hradec, they took the lead early on, but then they began to fall behind their opponent in almost all aspects of the game and the number of goals in their net began to increase. In the end, despite several other decent chances from Hradek, three came.

Hanáci started well in eastern Bohemia and took the lead in the thirteenth minute after Ventúr sent a long pass from the middle of the field to the edge of the penalty area, from where he headed the ball beyond the reach of Zadražila goalkeeper Jáchym Šíp.

However, Hradec, which had stagnated for a while, got back into the game quite quickly and it was equalized after only seven minutes. The corner was still deflected by the Sigma players, but only on the kick of Petr Juliš. His shot would have gone wide, but it bounced unluckily off the chest of Juraj Chvátal and he scored an exemplary patriot.

The home side put the equalizer on the horse and soon more of their tries started coming. Even the people of Olomouc tried, but they didn’t quite get to the end. And if anything, the ball flew wide like, for example, Breite’s attempt from the 32nd minute.

And Hradec’s superiority finally paid off even before the break. Daniel Vašulín and Horák were able to overcome Stoppen in the 42nd and 44th minutes. In both of these scoring situations, huge mistakes in Olomouc’s play played a role.

Eight minutes after the change of sides, Sigma could already be losing by three goals. After Harazim’s center and Horák’s header back in front of the goal, Juliš finished from a small goal from the first, but only hit the side netting of Stoppen’s goal. In another quarter of an hour, Sigma was protected from another goal by goalkeeper Stoppen, who caught a bomb from an angle from the boot of Čmelík. After the subsequent corner, he also dealt with an unpleasant header from Kodeš.

Hradec Králové’s dominance continued. Basically, there was only one goal and only Zifčák got a chance from Sigma. But his shot from the turn did not add too many wrinkles to the Hradec goalkeeper’s forehead.

After a 1:3 loss, Jiří Saňák’s men will now have to overcome a two-goal deficit in Sunday’s home game in order to at least continue with extra time. The return match at Androva Stadium will start, just like the first one, from 15:00.
