A miserable first half decided the defeat of the players of SK Sigma Olomouc in the opening match of the semi-final play-off in the European Group. They lost three in Hradec Králové. The second leg is played at Androva Stadium next Sunday.
In the 13th minute, Olomouc took the lead when Šíp headed over the Hradec keeper. But the home team were more active. And they equalized seven minutes later. Juliš’s shot went completely wide, but hit Chvátal, who knocked the ball into his own net. In the 42nd, Vašulín was the first to score with a shot to the left post, and two minutes later, Hradečtí jumped to a two-goal difference when Horák finished. The botched end of the first half was the definitive decision. Even the inclusion of two foreign attackers did not help the guests to make a comeback, the situation has not changed.
“In principle, we entered the match as we expected. We had a chance at 0-0, then we conceded a goal. I thought the introduction was fine. Then we got an unfortunate own goal from a deflected corner. But then we struggled a bit in the transition phase. We gave Hradec two gifts in the last minutes of the first half, when we unnecessarily lost balloons and the opponent scored two goals. Such mistakes will be punished by most league teams. In the second half we tried to score a goal to improve our position for the return leg. But we played more for the limelight. It will be a big task to score two goals against Hradec at home and not concede,” said Jiří Saňák.
