Filip Zorvan started the match against Hradec Králové on the bench, but in the first half he had to replace the injured Jan Vodháněl. The Hanás could not manage the match in the Malšovick Arena and lost 1:3. “Until the rematch, it’s a complication,” said Zorvan after the duel was over.
Was a sloppy end to the first half the key to today’s result?
“Definitely. We know the play off system is about goals. We got two unnecessary ones, which I think is a big influence on the double game and a big complication that happened.”
You were at one. Was it a misunderstanding with Denis Ventura?
“About. I was passing it to Denis in the middle, I had in my head that the second stopper would come out and pass it to Chváty. I think we had a bad agreement, Denis wanted to go more to the fore. The defender read it and poked it. It was a misunderstanding, we each had a different idea.”
How hard will the retaliation be? What will need to be changed in it? You need to win by two goals.
“Retaliation will be very difficult. We saw the strength of Hradec, which was very organized. It was difficult to get into them. Even though they led by two goals, we didn’t have much pressure or opportunities. Hradec was able to close it well. We are certainly not packing it, but it will be key for us to score an early goal. Or that we score the first goal. Then anything can happen, the first goal and the time when it is scored will decide the return.”
It looked like you were focused on not conceding in the first half. Did you have such instructions?
“Absolutely not. But we knew that we couldn’t afford to let another goal go. Although there were some hints. We went to Hradec with the idea that we would crowd the space and not want to concede a goal. We knew that it would be ideal for us to score the first goal and then go on the counter. Half of that plan happened. We scored the first goal, but after our mistakes, Hradec turned it around. All goals could have been prevented. Hradec deserved the victory more, that’s true, but we made it easier for him.”
You praised Hradec. Is it different than under Mr. Kotal?
“I think they are more dangerous going forward now. They have construction and more spin. Vašek Pilař bounces more to the center. We were preparing for it, but in the match it always turns out that there are quick moves. In the second half, we couldn’t figure out when to step on their half-back, or the full-back, who moved higher. I have to praise Hradec for how well organized it was. He knew what he wanted to play.”
Jáchym Šíp’s goal is a positive. Was it the intention to go behind the hitchhikers?
“Our intention was that one would go more for, the other behind the stoppers. But I did not expect such an ending from Jáchym, it was brilliant. I would like to congratulate him. Just let him continue and score more goals.”
