This year’s celebrations of the end of the Second World War in Pilsen have an unpleasant ending. The police are investigating a case where one of the participants of the popular Freedom Convoy waved a flag with a Nazi swastika. It was a woman who had a small child on her lap. The flag with the swastika was handed to her by the driver of the car at the moment when they passed by the VIP tribune with relatives of war veterans and other guests of honor. The situation was caught on camera. The video quickly started circulating on social networks and caused a great wave of emotions. The police already know the names of both actors.
“We recorded a video on social networks where one of the actors of the American convoy hands a flag with a Nazi symbol to another person in the vehicle. We are currently investigating this case, both the captured illegal act and the authenticity of this video.” said the police on https://twitter.com/PolicieCZ/status/1787113046902514054. In the early evening, the investigators already knew the names of the couple captured on the recording.
“We have already established the identity of the suspects and now the criminal investigators are carrying out the necessary procedural steps in the case. The unlawful conduct of these two Czech citizens was qualified as suspicion of committing a misdemeanor, a manifestation of sympathy for a movement aimed at suppressing human rights and freedoms.” added the police.
The footage shows one of the drivers handing a swastika flag to his female passenger. “They are jeepers. They have nothing to do with us. The police are already saving it. He knows about it, I’ve already talked to them,” informed the commander of the Military History Club of the 16th Armored Division Pavel Rogl, who is one of the main organizers of the convoy.
The mayor of Pilsen has already condemned the incident Novel Zarzycky (YES). “Such behavior is completely unacceptable and should be strongly condemned. The case is already being investigated by the Police of the Czech Republic. According to my information, these were not members of traditional military clubs, but an individual participant in the convoy,” added the mayor. If the police come to the conclusion that it was a promotion of a movement aimed at suppressing human rights and freedoms, the perpetrators face up to five years in prison.
This year’s 79th Freedom Celebration in Pilsen, which is one of the largest celebrations of the end of the Second World War in Europe, culminated with a spectacular parade of historical military equipment.
