“During the pursuit, the driver of the vehicle, in addition to disregarding the light and sound warning signs of the police officers to stop, also disregarded the speed limits. In one of the villages, he drove at a speed of almost 200 kilometers per hour,” revealed police spokeswoman Andrea Muzikantová.
Another time he drove through a section of the road being repaired, even though the traffic light was red. The reason for his frantic driving was only discovered by the police when he stopped at the intersection in Ústí nad Orlicí, in which two other patrols participated.
They had to handcuff him
“They had to help him out of the vehicle using gropes and grabs and then handcuffed him. He told the police that he was a good driver and that he wanted to have fun,” Muzikantová added, adding that the breathalyzer test also revealed more about the reasons for the young man’s behavior. It came out positive with a value of 1.1 per thousand of alcohol.
“He agreed with the measured value and stated that he drank five large shots of schnapps before driving and then got behind the wheel in Žamberk. Police officers seized the man’s driver’s license on the spot and forbade further driving,” the spokeswoman concluded.
Whether the driver committed a misdemeanor or a criminal act of endangerment under the influence of an addictive substance will now depend on the results of the medical examination that the driver underwent at the Orlickoustsk hospital.
